The Suzuki Vitara, a popular compact SUV tow car, has received an update for 2023, offering multiple variants with different fuel economy and CO2 emissions depending on the engine and hybrid system.

The 1.4-litre mild hybrid turbocharged petrol variant returns an official fuel economy of around 53 mpg (miles per gallon), with slightly higher emissions typical of mild hybrids. The 1.5-litre full-hybrid petrol variant is slightly more efficient, rated at about 56 mpg, but real-world fuel economy may be lower due to performance characteristics, dropping below 40 mpg in some driving, which suggests higher CO2 emissions in practical use.

For those seeking a more efficient petrol option, the 1.6L non-hybrid petrol Suzuki Vitara 2025 1.6L GLX+ 2WD claims a fuel economy of about 5.8 L/100 km (~40.6 mpg US). The Indian market Maruti Grand Vitara, a similar model, achieves up to 27.97 km/l (~58.6 mpg US), indicating low CO2 emissions for hybrid powertrains.

Safety equipment and driver aids have been updated in the Vitara. The new model now includes radar- and camera-based autonomous emergency braking (AEB), which can detect pedestrians, cyclists, and other motor vehicles. This technology is claimed to work better at night.

The maximum towing figure for the Vitara remains at 1200kg. The kerbweight for the two-wheel-drive mild-hybrid manual Vitara has been updated to 1227kg, while the Allgrip 4x4 version has a higher kerbweight of 1347kg.

The updated Vitara Hybrid is available in two specification levels, Motion and Ultra. Prices for the Vitara Hybrid start from £26,949, rising to £32,199 for the Ultra Full Hybrid AllGrip.
