Revealed in New Zealand: Pricing and Specifications for the New Subaru Forester Hybrid Model
New Subaru Forester Unveiled: A Leap Forward in SUV Technology
Subaru has announced the launch of the 6th-generation Forester SUV, marking a significant evolution in the history of the model. The new Forester is set to hit New Zealand roads from July 2023, with the first deliveries expected in the same month.
The new Forester comes equipped with a range of key features designed to enhance the driving experience. Across the range, you'll find an 11.6-inch high-definition infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and a 360-degree Surround View Monitor. Higher-end models also get a 12.3-inch digital driver display.
Subaru has focused on electrification with the new Forester, with much of the new hardware in the hybrid system sourced from Toyota. The hybrid model combines a different version of the 2.5-litre boxer engine with a 121kW/212Nm engine, a 90kW electric motor, and a 1.1kWh lithium battery. This hybrid system allows for a possible maximum range of 1000 kilometers.
The hybrid powertrain comes with a price-premium that depends on specification, ranging from $3000 to $6000. The base price for the Forester, Sport, and Touring models are $49,990, $54,990, and $56,990 respectively, with the hybrid versions priced at $52,990, $59,990, and $60,900 respectively.
Fuel consumption figures for the petrol Forester are claimed to be 7.9 liters per 100 kilometers, while the hybrid model is claimed to be 6.2 liters per 100 kilometers. The all-wheel drive in the new Forester is an "always on" system, with constant drive to both axles.
X-Mode is standard across all models of the new Forester, ensuring optimal performance in various driving conditions. The continuously variable gearing has been altered for stronger takeoff, and the standard 136kW/247Nm 2.5-litre engine is carried over, with claims of reduced noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) and improved responsiveness.
The new Forester maintains a ground clearance of 220mm, ensuring its capability in off-road conditions. The new Forester will be on show at Fieldays from June 11-14, giving potential buyers a chance to get a closer look at this exciting new SUV.
Subaru of New Zealand has opened the order books for the 6th-generation Forester SUV, and with its combination of technology, performance, and off-road capability, it's sure to be a hit with Kiwi drivers.
