Rick and Morty Transform into Batman in Latest Adult Swim Promotional Clip
Rewritten Article:
Holy Schnauzer! The dynamic duo of Rick & Morty just keeps on hopping dimensions. Over the past ten years, this interdimensional pair has skyrocketed in popularity, garnering attention from various avenues such as films, live-action, video games, and different animation styles. The next cosmos they've zoomed into? None other than the DC Animated Universe, sort of.
Recently, Adult Swim unveiled a TV bumper featuring Rick and Morty reminiscent of the opening sequence for Batman: The Animated Series. And guess what? It actually looks quite good! From start to finish, it really dives into the bit and makes it work wonderfully in the short timeframe. The overall visuals with Rick & Morty characters in a cleaner art style certainly give the show a more distinct and captivating appearance. Plus, the theme done in Danny Elfman style is an awesome bonus.
The bumper was helmed by director and executive producer Aron Fromm (who currently edits Smiling Friends for Adult Swim) and animation studio Open the Portal. In an exclusive interview with Animation World Network, Fromm and OTP creative director David Braun divulged that they were inspired to do this project after meeting key BTAS writer Paul Dini at a screening of Fleischer cartoons last year. When Adult Swim commissioned them for a Rick & Morty promo, Fromm and Braun decided to embrace the classic show because it has had a significant impact on their work. As Braun explained, "Many a man has tried and failed to recapture the magic of the original series, and we love a challenge."
Even though it may seem this bumper is just a one-off project, Fromm and Braun were quick to stress that it doesn't indicate a potential spinoff. Still, Fromm playfully imagined that an "elaborate and gothic" trailer for a hypothetical series could span at least 40 episodes, which is quite the vision! Stranger things have happened, especially in the realm of Batman, so don't write it off just yet.
