The National Cybersecurity Directorate (DNSC) of Romania and the engineering and cybersecurity company Enevo Group have joined forces in a strategic cooperation agreement aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity of Romania's energy sector. This partnership focuses on building the cyber resilience of critical energy infrastructure by implementing and testing advanced monitoring, detection, and alerting technologies.

The collaboration encompasses several key areas. Information exchange and threat intelligence sharing will enable early identification and coordinated national responses to cyberattacks targeting energy infrastructure. The partnership also focuses on testing and implementing advanced OT cybersecurity technologies, including Enevo Group's SentryOT platform, which provides comprehensive visibility and protection for operational systems in the energy sector.

Joint research and development efforts will be undertaken to advance OT security software, leveraging local technological expertise to promote Romania’s and the EU’s digital sovereignty. Training and awareness programs will be conducted for personnel managing critical energy infrastructure, with a focus on enhancing the skills and preparedness of staff responsible for OT security.

The partnership also extends to supporting public policy development at both the national and European levels, helping shape frameworks in industrial security consistent with new European cybersecurity requirements such as the NIS2 Directive. The agreement also aims to strengthen Romania's cybersecurity services market by developing a critical mass of experts capable of responding to cyber threats in real time.

The energy sector in Romania has been identified as advanced and sophisticated, but has also seen an increase in cyberattacks, particularly since the war in Ukraine. Dan Cîmpean, Director of the National Cybersecurity Directorate, highlighted this point, emphasizing the need for improved resilience through public-private partnership, innovation, and knowledge sharing.

Cristian Pârvulescu, CEO of ENEVO Group, expressed his excitement about the partnership, stating that it reflects a shared vision of collaboration, know-how exchange, and proactive risk management. Enevo Group, which serves major clients in the energy and industrial sectors, specializes in engineering and cybersecurity solutions for critical infrastructure, and has developed the SentryOT platform to secure industrial operations such as electric grids, gas networks, and water systems.
