Russia begins distribution of iPhone 17 cases for every model
The tech world is abuzz with rumours and leaks about Apple's upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, and a tech blogger named Sergei Romanov, also known as Romancev768, has shared some intriguing insights based on case leaks and mockups.
According to Romanov, the case designs suggest that the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone 17 Air will have distinct designs, with differences in size and camera configurations. The iPhone 17 Pro is rumoured to be thicker than its predecessor, the iPhone 16 Pro, to accommodate a larger battery. On the other hand, the iPhone 17 Air is expected to be extremely thin, making it the thinnest iPhone ever.
Romanov also revealed that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a titanium chassis, enhancing its premium feel and durability. The Pro models may have vapor chamber cooling systems, reflecting internal hardware upgrades. There are rumours that the Pro Max model could be rebranded, for example, as "Ultra."
Another interesting revelation is that Apple is expected to remove the SIM tray on all iPhone 17 models worldwide, except in China, shifting fully to eSIM technology. This move could significantly reduce the size of the devices.
The screen size and refresh rate of the standard iPhone 17 are rumoured to increase, with support for ProMotion 120 Hz refresh rate, previously limited to Pro models. This change is expected to improve display smoothness.
However, it's important to note that no specific changes to the iPhone 17 models have been confirmed yet by Apple. These revelations are based on case leaks and testing on mockups, and the final design of the actual devices may differ.
The case designs do not reflect any changes to the MagSafe system as of now. MagSafe remains unchanged from previous iPhone models in the current case designs.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 17 lineup in key markets are rumoured to open on Friday, September 12, with the devices available for purchase on September 19. The announced dates for the iPhone 17 lineup and other new Apple products are still rumours and subject to change.
Romanov confirmed that the design of the camera block, lens placement, flash, and LiDAR sensor on the iPhone 17 models were accurately represented in the cases. But, as always, take these rumours with a pinch of salt until Apple officially announces the iPhone 17 lineup.
