Samsung Readies Broad Android 16 Upgrade for One UI 8, Expansion on Galaxy S25 Imminent

Samsung has revealed thrilling updates for its Galaxy devices, including the rollout of One UI 8.5 and plans for the impending Galaxy S26 series.

The new One UI 8.5 update is anticipated to deliver enhanced gesture navigation and a more substantial intermediate update based on Android 16. This update will serve as a foundation for the next full version, enabling Samsung to introduce new design elements inspired by iOS and boost features such as Galaxy AI integration, performance, and customization.

One UI 8.5 has already been detected on internal servers, with versions for all three primary Galaxy S25 models. The stable One UI 8 updates have started rolling out for the Galaxy S25 lineup, with most devices slated to receive their respective updates in October.

Regarding the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung is planning to launch the S26 Pro, Edge, and Ultra with an incremental release, rather than One UI 9. The rollout of One UI 8.5 is being prepared for next year's Galaxy S26 series, but it seems that the S26 series might not include charging speed upgrades.

Rumors surrounding Samsung's new One UI release schedule first surfaced earlier this year. The Samsung software team has launched One UI 8, and it is currently rolling out in various regions. The stable One UI 8 builds are now reaching users in the US, according to reports from SamMobile.

In addition to the One UI update, Samsung is also reportedly set to unveil its Android XR headset on October 21. This news adds to the excitement for Samsung device users, as they eagerly await the updates and new releases from the tech giant.
