Samsung's Project Moohan: A More Affordable XR Headset Launching Later This Month

Samsung is set to launch its first Android-powered mixed-reality headset, Project Moohan, later this month. The official unveiling is scheduled for September 29, 2025, with global availability expected around or after this event. Meanwhile, Apple's Vision Pro has struggled to gain mainstream traction, capturing only 2% of the global XR market in late 2023.

The success of Project Moohan is expected to hinge on strong content, apps, and developer support. Samsung's collaboration with Google and Qualcomm suggests a robust product. The headset is rumoured to be priced lower than Apple's Vision Pro, which retails at $3,500, positioning it to appeal to a broader market. Key details such as resolution, display technology, and weight remain undisclosed.

Samsung aims to make XR more practical for everyday users with this new device. Market reaction in Q4 will reveal whether XR is ready to rebound or remains in early adopter territory.

Samsung's Project Moohan XR headset launch later this month could revitalise the XR market, offering a more affordable and practical alternative to Apple's Vision Pro. The success of this venture will depend on the strength of its content, apps, and developer support.
