Seiko Introduces Affordable "Pepsi" Watches, Challenging Rolex's Luxury Standard
In an unexpected move, Seiko has unveiled two limited-edition watches dubbed the "Pepsi" series, set to hit the market in September 2025. The SRPL99 and SSK047, limited to 7,000 units each, promise to bring officially licensed Pepsi branding to the world of horology, marking a departure for the Japanese watchmaker.
The SRPL99, a 38mm automatic dive watch, pays homage to the 1990s with its retro Pepsi logo design and classic red-and-blue bezel. The SSK047, on the other hand, is a modern GMT watch with a sleek black-coated stainless steel case, red-blue Pepsi-branded silicone strap, and a black-blue-red Pepsi bezel. Both models feature reliable automatic calibers and the SKX/Seiko 5 Sports heritage.
While Seiko's Pepsi editions are more accessible and casual, the Rolex GMT-Master "Pepsi" remains the luxury standard. Known for its precision chronometer-certified movement, superior finish, robust build, and iconic status among collectors and travelers, the Rolex Pepsi boasts a ceramic bezel, longer power reserve (~70 hours), and a higher price point.
