Sigmaringen Company Loses $100K in Sophisticated Crypto Fraud

A business in Sigmaringen has been targeted by a complex cryptocurrency fraud, resulting in a substantial six-figure loss. The fraudsters, who remain at large, posed as intermediaries for a Swiss investor, persuading the company to transfer funds as a brokerage fee.

The incident occurred in mid-July 2025. The criminals, described as highly professional and operating internationally, promised a multi-million dollar project involving a Swiss investor. The company, unaware of the deception, transferred over $100,000 in cryptocurrency.

The Criminal Police has warned of the fraudsters' diverse tactics targeting larger companies. In a rare success, investigators managed to secure the stolen cryptocurrency on an exchange, preventing further loss.
