Smartwatch Debut: Garmin Launches Vivoactive 6 - Anticipation High for "Intelligent Wake-Up Alert" this Spring
Garmin Debuts Vivoactive 6 Smartwatch with Improved Functionality
Technology company Garmin has announced the launch of its latest smartwatch, the Vivoactive 6, set to hit stores on April 4. The new watch aims to enhance morning routines with a brighter display, advanced running insights, and a new "smart wake alarm" feature.
Priced at $299.99 / £279.99, the Vivoactive 6 competes in the moderately-priced GPS watch market and caters to customers who appreciate the functionalities of an Apple Watch but seek a device requiring less frequent charging.
The Vivoactive 6 boasts an even brighter AMOLED display than the 5 and offers up to 11 days of battery life. Additionally, with the Vivoactive 6, users can access Garmin's advanced Running Dynamics metrics, such as Body Battery, HRV status, Pulse Ox, Menstrual Cycle tracking, Sleep Coach, and Meditation Coach.
Particularly exciting is the smart wake alarm, a new feature making its Garmin debut. Designed to gently rouse users during lighter sleep stages within a pre-set window, it aims to improve wakefulness by reducing grogginess.
According to Susan Lyman, Garmin Vice President of Consumer Sales and Marketing, "No matter your fitness goals, vívoactive 6 is designed to help you understand your body better than ever before."
The Vivoactive 6 maintains a similar design to the previous model, with an aluminum bezel and silicone band. It comes in Black/Slate, Bone/Lunar Gold, Jasper Green, and Pink Dawn. Pre-orders will be available on Garmin.com from April 4.

The Smart Wake Alarm on the Garmin Vivoactive 6 uses heart rate variability and movement data to detect lighter sleep stages within a pre-set 30-minute window. It vibrates gently to rouse the user during a more restful period, offering a potentially more refreshing wake-up experience. Users can personalize their wake-up window for optimal results, taking into account individual sleep patterns and preferences. While the Smart Wake Alarm shows promise, its effectiveness can vary based on factors such as sleep environment consistency, vibration sensitivity, and accuracy of sleep stage detection.
The Vivoactive 6, equipped with the new smart wake alarm feature, showcases Garmin's advancement in technology, merging it with smart-home devices for a seamless morning wake-up. This gadget, with its functionalities similar to high-end gadgets like the Apple Watch, offers a moderate-priced alternative that requires less frequent charging.
