Snyk Opens Sydney Data Center to Meet Asia-Pacific Data Residency Needs

Snyk, a leading developer security platform, has launched a new data center in Sydney, Australia. This move aligns with the increasing importance of data residency for organizations using cloud-based technologies, particularly in light of emerging data governance laws and regulations.

The Asia-Pacific region has seen a significant shift towards cloud services, with 85% of the IT and business services market relying on the cloud in Q1 2021. Globally, enterprise spending on cloud-based technologies is projected to reach two-thirds of overall enterprise spending on application software by 2025.

Snyk's expansion into Sydney supports local data residency requirements and aims to help customers mitigate security risks and comply with regulatory requirements across the Asia-Pacific region. The new data center hosts Snyk's developer security platform, ensuring data is stored and processed locally. This move is particularly beneficial for Snyk's customers in Australia, such as Australia Post, Atlassian, and Komatsu Australia, who have experienced over 150% YoY growth in the ANZ region in 2022.

Snyk's new data center in Sydney underscores the company's commitment to supporting customers' data residency needs and enhancing security compliance in the Asia-Pacific region. As cloud adoption continues to rise, Snyk's expansion aligns with the growing demand for secure and compliant cloud-based solutions.
