In the heart of New York City, The Shed has become home to a unique and awe-inspiring audio installation – the Sonic Sphere. This first-of-its-kind sphere, suspended in air, boasts a capacity of approximately 250 people and is supported by an intricate infrastructure of 1,178 steel struts, 3,500 yards of cloth, and 12 structural cables.
The creative minds behind the Sonic Sphere, Ed Cooke, Merijn Royaards, and Nicholas Christie, have crafted an immersive ball of Pro AV wonder, filled with 124 meticulously arranged loudspeakers. Powering this auditory journey is the LEA Professional Connect Series 354D amplifiers, which deliver a 4-channel configuration with 350 watts per channel, suitable for a variety of venue sizes and applications.
The Sonic Sphere's guests are enveloped in a transcendental experience as sound and light waves are sculpted into spatialized, temporal architectures within the sphere. The Connect Series 354D amplifiers, with their acoustically transparent look ahead RMS and peak limiters, 32-bit floating-point DSP, and built-in sample rate converters, play a crucial role in this immersive audio experience.
The Connect Series 354D amplifiers also offer several key features and benefits. They incorporate Smart Power Bridge technology, enhancing power efficiency and performance. These amplifiers are IoT-enabled with cloud connectivity via LEA Cloud, allowing remote control and monitoring of the amplifiers at any location and time without subscription fees or hidden costs. The Connect Series 354D also seamlessly integrates with third-party control systems such as RTI, facilitated by APIs and drivers provided by LEA Professional, making system control user-friendly.

The Sonic Sphere at The Shed, the 11th and most advanced, has installed 31 Connect Series 354D amplifiers for the immersive audio experience.

Since 2021, more than 10 Sonic Spheres have been built in France, the United Kingdom, Mexico, and the United States.
