Sony Updates PRS-T1 E-Reader with Firmware Version 1.0.03
Freshening Up the Sony Reader WiFi Experience
The Sony Reader WiFi has had some updates to its PC Reader application, focusing on visual and behind-the-scenes enhancements. However, the e-reader itself hasn't seen significant changes until now. Recently, Sony unveiled an update that addresses numerous issues users were encountering.
You can download the update (1.0.03.11140) via the Sony Official Website. This update offers improvements to the touch panel, added functionality, a faster, less crash-prone built-in dictionary, and a fixed wireless internet access for longer WIFI passwords.
The primary focus of this update is resolving the freezing issues users reported, particularly related to page turning and the dictionary.
However, an issue that continues to bother some users—though Sony hasn't addressed it yet—is font inconsistency on some non-DRM books. On these books, Bold, Italics, and Underlines don't resolve properly. To solve this issue, follow these steps:
- Import the eBook into Calibre – Calibre is a free and open-source ebook management program. Import your eBook into it.
- Adjust Filter Settings – Go to Preferences > Conversion / Common Options, find the tab Filter Style Information, and check the box Fonts.
- Convert the eBook – Convert the eBook to epub once more. Remember, your original file will be kept, so you can always retrieve it.
- Re-import the File – Import the converted file back on your reader and copy over the original one.
