SpiNNcloud Launches Brain-Inspired AI Supercomputer SpiNNaker2
SpiNNcloud Systems, a DeepTech startup based in Dresden, has announced the commercial availability of its 'SpiNNaker2' platform, a high-performance AI computer based on the principles of the human brain, set to revolutionize real-time artificial intelligence.
SpiNNaker2, the brainchild of an international collaboration involving TU Dresden, the University of Manchester, and various European research organizations, was developed as part of the European Flagship Human Brain Project, a multi-billion-euro research initiative.
Prof. Christian Mayr of TU Dresden describes SpiNNaker2 as 'the world's largest and most energy-efficient supercomputer for real-time artificial intelligence'. Fred Rothganger of the Sandia National Laboratories praises its flexibility, making it the most versatile neural supercomputer architecture available today.
The first users of SpiNNaker2 will include the renowned Sandia National Laboratories. SpiNNcloud Systems, with the support of a €2.5 million grant from the European Innovation Council (EIC), aims to make SpiNNaker2 available as a cloud platform solution in the second half of 2024, with full production systems ready in the first half of 2025.
SpiNNaker2's commercial launch promises to bring cutting-edge, brain-inspired AI technology to a wider range of users.
