In the ever-evolving landscape of media technology, the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) has appointed a new leader to guide standards development – Raymond Yeung.

With a rich background in digital visual effects and film mastering, Yeung brings a wealth of experience to his new role. He joined the HDR imaging development effort at Dolby Laboratories in 2012, further strengthening his expertise in the field.

Yeung's contributions to SMPTE have not gone unnoticed. He is a SMPTE Life Fellow and a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences[1][5]. His commitment to SMPTE standards work has been recognised with his new leadership role as the vice president of standards.

SMPTE President Richard Welsh expressed delight in welcoming Yeung to his new position. "I look forward to working with Raymond as we continue to lead and evolve standards development in this rapidly changing industry," said Welsh[2].

Yeung, who started as standards VP on January 1, 2023, plans to draw from his experience to drive innovation for the standards community. The professional video industry can find news, trends, and product and tech information from the TV Tech Newsletter, the #1 source for such updates[3].
