In the heart of Dortmund, a new urban development project is taking shape. Known as "Dortmund Green Living," this ambitious project is expected to house around 8,000 people and will feature a public park, educational facilities, childcare, local supply, and direct access to public transport. The project is being spearheaded by the Fischbach Gruppe.

The project is subject to an environmental impact assessment (EIA) to ensure air quality, noise reduction, and protection of neighboring residents. Neighbor protection measures include the use of a dust protection wall and regular air and noise measurements at three measuring points.

To address the increased power demand due to additional tower cranes and infrastructure limits, the project's energy solution consists of two battery storage systems and five Stage-V generators, each with 200 kVA. This combination is particularly beneficial for urban projects with strict emission regulations.

Roman Müller, Sales Representative for Power Generation and HVAC at Zeppelin Rental, explains that the project aims to reliably cover peak loads. Zeppelin Rental, responsible for construction logistics in the project, considers the use of battery storage in large-scale construction projects to be forward-thinking.

The battery storage technology used is more efficient, has lower emissions, and is more cost-effective, as stated by Zeppelin Rental. Companies receive assigned delivery time slots and must check in and out independently at the barrier.

A comprehensive construction logistics handbook has been developed, outlining measures for planning, traffic management, crane locations, and loading zones. A tire washing station has been set up to prevent dirt from entering the public space.

Zeppelin Rental is also coordinating construction site management and transmits a monthly monitoring of the actually performed truck trips to the environmental authority. Using a single generator continuously in the underload range would be inefficient and costly, according to Zeppelin Rental.

The construction logistics process is handled digitally via the web-based online logistics control center (OLCC). A temporary rental station is available on the construction site for immediate access to small machines, while larger equipment solutions are coordinated with the rental station or relevant departments.

The combination of battery storage and generators maintains high supply security. This innovative energy solution is a testament to the project's commitment to sustainability and efficiency.
