Subaru Unveils 2026 Outback SUV with Bold Design, Enhanced Tech, and New Wilderness Trim
Subaru has unveiled the seventh generation of its popular Outback SUV, set to hit North American markets in 2026. The new model sports a bold design, enhanced tech features, and improved cargo space.
The 2026 Outback boasts a striking new look with vertically stacked headlights and a larger grille. Its rear has a new light signature and a steeper rake, increasing cargo space. Despite the changes, the Outback retains its familiar proportions but adopts a squarer, boxier profile and a flatter roofline.
Inside, drivers will find a redesigned interior with a standard 12.1-inch touchscreen and a 12.3-inch full digital gauge cluster. Under the hood, the US market will see a revised 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine and a 2.4-litre turbocharged engine, both paired with a CVT.
Subaru has also revealed the new Outback Wilderness, a more off-road focused model with unique styling and reinforced underbody protection. It offers improved approach, departure, and breakover angles. Standard raised roof rails can hold up to 360kg statically and 100kg dynamically.
The new Subaru Outback, breaking away from its Legacy-based roots, is set to make a splash in North American news with its fresh design, enhanced tech, and improved cargo space. The Outback Wilderness, with its off-road capabilities, is also poised to attract adventure seekers. Subaru Australia has shown interest in bringing the Wilderness model to the region.
