SumUp Appoints Luke Griffiths as New UK CEO

SumUp, the leading small business payments provider, has appointed Luke Griffiths as its new UK CEO. Griffiths, currently serving as Chief Commercial Officer, will continue in his global role while overseeing UK operations. This move signals SumUp's increased focus on the UK hospitality and enterprise sectors.

Griffiths has demonstrated impressive leadership at SumUp. Under his guidance, the company launched the SumUp Terminal and developed new strategies that bolstered its UK market position. He assembled a sales team of 150, driving customer acquisition to over 1000 new customers each month. Griffiths also implemented AI for prospect targeting and merchant onboarding, further streamlining operations.

To enhance customer service, Griffiths led the launch of SumUp's proprietary in-app call feature for UK merchants. This innovation improved satisfaction scores by 15%. Griffiths' appointment follows a successful tenure at SumUp, where he has played a pivotal role in the company's growth and expansion.

Griffiths brings extensive experience to his new role, having previously served as Klarna's Group Chief Commercial Officer and leading eBay's Marketing Solutions division for EMEA and APAC. Steve Delpy, with his wealth of experience from companies like JP Morgan, American Express, and Visa, has rejoined SumUp as a Non-Executive Director. With these strategic appointments, SumUp is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory in the UK market.
