suspected YouTube content ID issues may have inadvertently labeled Team Cherry's Silksong content as infringing, with the composer stating that it is possibly a technical glitch or deliberate illegal activity.

On September 17, 2025, Christopher Larkin, the composer of Hollow Knight: Silksong, took to Twitter to address a concerning issue affecting the game's music on YouTube.

It appears that some users have been receiving Content ID claims for Silksong music, despite neither Larkin nor Team Cherry, the studio behind Hollow Knight, opting in to YouTube's Content ID. This issue has caused a stir among fans and content creators who use the platform to share their love for the game.

Larkin has assured fans that he is looking into the matter, stating that the Content ID claims are likely due to a technical error or illegal activity. He also offered a piece of advice for those planning to make Hollow Knight: Silksong content on YouTube: it may be best to use royalty-free tunes in the background instead of the game's score, given the ongoing Content ID claims issue.

The release of Hollow Knight: Silksong was one of the biggest Steam launches of all time, with over 587,150 units sold. The game was taken out of most online storefronts during launch, including Steam and the Nintendo eShop.

Interestingly, the game features a reference to Bloodborne, a game from another series, in its gameplay. This cross-reference has added to the game's appeal among fans of both franchises.

The issue of YouTube's Content ID system being abused is not a new one. Over the years, many stories have come out from YouTube users who have faced similar issues. Larkin's statement serves as a reminder of the need for greater transparency and accountability in the system.

For content creators, Team Cherry offers a solution. They grant free licenses to their games via their website, allowing creators to use their music without fear of copyright infringement.

As Larkin continues to investigate the issue, fans and content creators can only hope for a swift resolution. In the meantime, they will continue to enjoy the captivating world of Hollow Knight: Silksong, its haunting music, and the many references it holds.
