According to reports, Tesla's first showroom in India will be located in the Bandra Kurla Complex, spanning approximately 4000 sq ft. The showroom is expected to display the Model 3 and Model Y, which could be Tesla's entry-level offerings in India.
While Tesla will use a Direct-to-Customer retail model in India, local partners will provide after-sales support. As of now, there is no publicly available information on the names of these local partners.
Tesla is in the process of hiring sales, customer service, operations, and Autopilot test drivers in Mumbai and Delhi. Job openings have been advertised on Tesla's website and LinkedIn. There is a possibility that Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, may visit India to announce the start of Tesla's operations.
The entry of Tesla into India is significant for both customers and Tesla. With the growing awareness and demand for electric vehicles in the country, Tesla's arrival is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the Indian automotive market.
