Tesla Delivers Record 497,099 Vehicles Despite California Insurance Scrutiny

Tesla has achieved a record-breaking quarter with 497,099 vehicle deliveries, surpassing analyst predictions. Meanwhile, the company faces regulatory scrutiny in California over its insurance operations.

Tesla's sales soared in the third quarter, driven partly by U.S. buyers securing the $7,500 tax credit before its expiration. This surge may lead to a slowdown in the fourth quarter.

However, the California Department of Insurance has initiated enforcement actions against Tesla's insurance operations. The agency describes persistent systemic failures and willfully unfair claims settlement practices. Tesla Insurance Services and Tesla Insurance Company are accused of significant delays in payments and responses to consumers. The number of complaints against Tesla's insurance division has significantly increased since 2022, surpassing the total of the previous three years in 2025 alone. Tesla faces potential fines of up to $10,000 per violation and could potentially lose its license in California.

On a positive note, Tesla has announced it will expand its market reach by selling the Cybertruck in Qatar, the second major market in the Middle East after Saudi Arabia.

Tesla's record-breaking sales quarter comes amidst regulatory challenges in California. The company must address the alleged systemic violations in its insurance operations to avoid potential fines and license loss. Despite these issues, Tesla continues to expand its market reach globally.
