Unified Commerce Group acquires Greats, a sneaker brand previously owned by Steve Madden.
Unified Commerce Group (UCG), a privately held retail platform, has been making waves in the fashion industry with a series of strategic acquisitions. The latest addition to UCG's growing portfolio is the upscale sneaker brand Greats, acquired from Steve Madden.
In 2020, UCG launched with the acquisition of Canada-based fashion line Frank And Oak. The following year, they expanded further with the acquisition of Los Angeles-based athleisure company Spiritual Gangster. Now, Greats joins the ranks as the third brand under UCG's management.
Dustin Jones, CEO and founder of UCG, expressed admiration for Greats, praising the brand for pioneering the direct-to-consumer model in footwear. At the time of acquisition, Greats had net sales of approximately $13 million in the 12 months ended June 30 of the year.
Steve Madden, who will now become a shareholder of UCG, expressed confidence that Greats will find a strong strategic fit with UCG's fast-growing portfolio of brands.
UCG Hub, the shared services platform of UCG, is now providing operational support, leadership, and strategy to these four growing DTC e-commerce brands.
Meanwhile, UCG has also made a strategic investment in Böhme, a Utah-based womenswear retailer. Böhme currently operates 14 stores in Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Arizona, plus an e-commerce platform. The founding team behind Boehme, now supported by UCG, includes Betuel and Sariah Dixon.
The advisory board of UCG includes Terry Lundgren, former CEO and chairman of Macy's, and Nicole Richie and musician Joel Madden of the band Good Charlotte.
With these strategic acquisitions, UCG is poised to continue its growth and make its mark in the fashion industry.
