On Windows:

  1. Log in: Access your PC with an Administrator account.
  2. Open Start: Click the Windows logo or press .
  3. Search McAfee: Type in the search bar.
  4. Open Product: Click on McAfee LiveSafe or TotalProtection.
  5. Navigate to My Protection: Find the "My Protection" tab (4 squares icon).
  6. Disable Real-Time Scanning: Click the "Turn off" button in the Real-Time Scanning section.
  7. Set Time Limit (Optional): Choose the desired time for real-time scanning to reactivate, or select if necessary.
  8. Disable Scheduled Scans: Click in the Scheduled Scans section.
  9. Disable Firewall: Click in the Firewall section.
  10. Adjust Autoupdates: Click the gear icon, then select the "Automatic Updates" option. Click here.
  11. Uninstalling McAfee: If all else fails, use the uninstaller to remove McAfee from your PC.

On Mac:

  1. Click McAfee Icon: Find the white "M" on the red shield icon in the menu bar.
