The tech world is abuzz with the upcoming launch of two new e-readers from Onyx International Inc (Onyx Boox): the iReader Color7 and the Ocean3 Turbo. Both devices have unique features that set them apart from their competitors.
Let's start with the iReader Color7, scheduled for launch on December 22 in China. This new 7-inch color eBook reader boasts an asymmetrical design, similar to the Kindle Oasis, with a thicker ledger on one side that tapers off to being thin for the rest of the device. The thicker side serves as a convenient place-holder and houses the page turn buttons.
The iReader Color7 features a 7-inch Kaleido 3 display, which is likely the first 7-inch e-reader with a color display. It supports 4,096 colours and 16 levels of grayscale, offering a vibrant reading experience. The display also benefits from the E Ink Comfort Gaze front light system, ensuring a consistent and comfortable reading experience.
On the other hand, the iReader Ocean3 Turbo, launched in October, has a super slim profile, measuring only 4mm in thickness. However, it does not have a color display like the iReader Color7. Instead, it comes with a 7-inch E ink Carta 1200 panel with a resolution of 300 PPI.
The Ocean3 Turbo does not have an asymmetrical design like the iReader Color7 or the Kindle Oasis. It does not have a place-holder or page turn buttons on a thicker side either. However, it is equipped with an octa-core processor, 4 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of storage, making it a powerful device.
As for the pricing, the iReader Ocean3 Turbo is priced at 1599 yuan, while the new iReader Color 7 is expected to be priced at around 1500 to 2000 yuan. The exact price of the Color7 has not been announced yet.
