Wiesbaden Leads Digital Offensive for Nationwide Standardization
Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hesse, is spearheading a digital offensive aimed at establishing nationwide standards and uniformity in digitalization. This initiative forms part of a broader effort towards citizen-centric services, innovative internal processes, and future-proof workplaces.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger expressed her enthusiasm, stating that being accepted as a pilot community is a recognition of the city's achievements so far. Maral Koohestanian, the department head for Smart City, Europe, and Order, emphasized Wiesbaden's eagerness to actively participate in the digital transformation of administration.
The guiding principle of this program is "time for life instead of waiting," meaning that the goal is to make services easily accessible. Central to this endeavour are the development and implementation of end-to-end digitalization of administrative processes, including ePayment, administrative cloud, and collaboration platforms.
The digital offensive is expected to alleviate the burden on municipalities and provide citizens with fast, digital solutions. It aims to accelerate the roll-out of digital services in specific communities, including Wiesbaden, Kassel, Hattersheim, the Rheingau-Taunus district, the Wetterau district, and the municipality of Heuchelheim.
Besides Wiesbaden, the cities of Kassel and Darmstadt in Hesse were selected as test cities for the implementation of the digital offensive. The overarching program seeks to make services proactive, service-oriented, and future-proof, with a focus on creating an administration that is efficient, innovative, and responsive to the needs of its citizens.
