Wiesbaden serves as the pioneer city in the latest digital expansion campaign jointly launched by the Federal and State governments.
Wiesbaden, the historic state capital of Hesse, is set to take a significant step forward in digital administrative transformation. Maral Koohestanian, the department head for Smart City, Europe, and Order, announced that Wiesbaden will actively participate in this initiative, which aims to establish national standards and uniformity for digitalization.
The digital offensive, a broader initiative towards citizen-oriented services, innovative internal processes, and attractive future-proof workplaces, includes making central basic services accessible throughout the state. These services include ePayment, administrative cloud, and collaboration platforms, all of which will be made available statewide.
Mayor Christiane Hinninger expressed her gratitude to the employees working together across the entire administration towards these goals, stating that being accepted as a pilot community is an acknowledgment of what has already been achieved. Wiesbaden, along with Kassel, Hattersheim, the Rheingau-Taunus district, the Wetterau district, and the municipality of Heuchelheim, has been selected as a pilot community in this digital implementation program. Darmstadt was also chosen as a pilot city in Hesse.
The local workshops are developing criteria for a faster roll-out of digital services, with end-to-end digitization of administrative processes being a key goal of this digital offensive. The overarching program represents a boost towards citizen-oriented services, innovative internal processes, and attractive future-proof workplaces.
