Xbox, PC, and PlayStation versions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will now support cross-platform mods.

CD Projekt RED, the Polish game developer and publisher behind the beloved Witcher series, is set to introduce a significant update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on various platforms this year. The update will bring cross-platform mod support to Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and PlayStation 5.

In a recent announcement, CD Projekt RED shared that the long-awaited update would be available later in 2025. This update will facilitate the sharing and enjoyment of mods across different platforms, enhancing the user experience for players on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC.

Mod support for The Witcher 3 has been a exclusive privilege for PC gamers for several years, through platforms like Nexus. Console players, however, have been left out of the equation, missing out on custom quests and zany creations crafted by the modding community. This will change with the arrival of this update.

The update will utilize mod.io as the mod manager, a platform already employed for various games across consoles and PC, including Baldur's Gate 3 from Larian Studios. Players will need to create a mod.io account and link it to their CD Projekt RED account to access the mods.

CD Projekt RED notes that due to technical limitations and community guidelines, not every mod will be approved for use on both Xbox and PlayStation. However, mods crafted with REDKit stand the "best chance" of making it through.

In other news, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has reportedly sold over 60 million copies, a remarkable milestone for the fantasy role-playing game.
